RYA Adult Dinghy Sailing

Dover Sea Sports offer a range of RYA Sailing Scheme courses for adults, from beginners to those seeking to build on their existing skills.

Contact us for information on our 1:1 tuition or 'family bubble' courses

Past experience and customer feedback has told us that adults much prefer 1:1 tuition. However, we still offer group RYA sailing courses for those who would like the group interaction.

Adult group courses here at Dover Sea Sports are kept at a low ratio of 3:1 instructor/trainee ratios, ensuring you get the most out of your course and time on the water. The majority of water sport centres run courses on 6:1 instructor/trainee ratios.

Not too sure if sailing is for you?

From April through to November, 1hr taster sessions are regularly available.

Try it before splashing out on a full course.

1:1 Private Tuition

1:1 tuition is available upon request at any time. £40/hr

RYA Level 1 (Start Sailing)

If you are new to sailing then our introductory courses could be just for you.

We have Laser Picos and RS Visions that are nice and wide and have plenty of room for adult sailors. These are ideal for those new to sailing as they offer greater stability.

This introductory level covers: How to sail in all directions, including an awareness of launching and recovering.

RYA Level 2 (Basic Skills)

If you have done your level 1 or have done some sailing previously and want to get back into sailing, then we offer a level 2 course, that could be just right for you.

This course builds on what you learnt at level 1; Rigging, launching, sailing in all directions. Capsize recovery and essential safety knowledge.

RYA Level 3 (Better Sailing)

The aim of this 2 day course is to bridge the gap between Level 2 and the Advanced sailing modules. Your RYA instructor will introduce some basic racing skills, so you can get more out or your sailing.
